Do you guys think its worth it to hire a SEO company to get sites optimized, or do you think most of them are full of balony and just doing what everyone else can do after a little research?

The good ones are worth their weight in gold, but there are plenty of BS artists, too. Definitely stay away from the ones promising to give you Google ranking in a day or the ones wanting to "submit your site to 8 billion engines".
The former usually means giving you top rankings for the phrase "dog antlers" and the latter is useless since all the traffic comes from three engines (and most from one).

I do my own SE optimization, though. Not that I wouldn't love to hire an expert, but I'm cheap. lol

I've been doing this since dinosaurs roamed the net ... ten frickin' years. (groan)

My recommendation is to read everything you can, don't believe what anyone (including me) tells you on a message board without lots of backup, figure out which keywords are the ones you want to target (use a professional keyword site like Wordze ... they have a $8 trial membership that will get you started ... and no, it's not my site), then do a search on Google for the keywords you want to rank with. Use all the tools on Harry's great page to figure out why a site ranks for the keywords that it does (think keyword concentration but not too high a concentration, back links, page rank, and probably a few other things we don't know about). Google SEO is a Zen art, so shoot for MSN and anywhere that doesn't only pull their results from Google. Oh, and seek out high value reciprocal links. Remember tis better to rank 149th for a high value search term than #1 for "goat feathers". And if you have a lot of sites with pretty good rankings, you fly beneath the radar of SE cutthroats who look for #1 Google sites to grab high rankings from (which is why no one tells you specifics on message boards). If all else fails, buy your traffic at a place that's underutilized and has a good ROI.

A lot depends upon the source of your traffic to determine its value.

Excellent tips and advice. Thanks for sharing your expertise smile It's hard to figure Google out. Just when you think you've got an idea of what they are doing they change it all around again and you have to start all over. LOL.

Google has always been at war with webmasters. You always have to stay on your toes. The methods that gave me #1 ranking for great keywords in 1999 just don't work anymore. You have to find new ways.

Google is the Evil Empire. What I hate about them is that they never tell you why or the reason they do what they do, same as they never tell you why they relegate you to the sandbox or ban you from AdSense. EVIL!

hi,

it is worth hiring for a SEO Company to promote, increase backlinks, increase

page rank and drive traffics to your site. It depends on the company that

you choose. But i can recommend you a good SEO Company who can

provide what you need and give what you are looking for. Yes, i am

talking about skgtecnologies. I hired them in optimizing my site and they

made it really great. That is why i am also recommending them to you.

thanks,
best seo specialist

Hello,

I think that it is not always compulsory to hire a seo company. we know that they can do the job very early and good. but this is also true that you have to give them so much of money. so i think you have to do this work by your own. create some keywords so that it become helpful in forum postings and etc.but hiring seo company will more better if you don't have enough time.

good luck!!
