No matter how experienced you are as a logo designer, clients are always a difficult lot to handle. That is why a logo designer should be versatile enough to deal with different types of clients. Only in exceptional cases will you come across clients who are cooperative and considerate with you. Otherwise, there is a wide array of clients will come up to you and confuse you brains out with silly things. Over the recent years, I’ve come across countless claims and blames from my clients. Today I would like to share a few of them with you and would like to know how you would have rebutted them.
In your logo designing career, you will have to face a diverse cluster of prospective clients. Because of that you need to be flexible enough to deal each and every type of customer accordingly. Sometimes, weird inquiries may appear from clients that employ you. It is rarely that you will meet a client who is good enough not to ask ridiculous queries. So in order to be ready in advance, I will tell some of the most common things that you might listen to as a logo designer from you clients and how you should deal with them.
1. “I want my logo design to be fancy, top-notch and detailed, but my budget is…”
2. “Hey I saw this logo and want you to make me an identical logo design”
3. “I’ll pay you only when I see my logo design ready.”
4. “Hey I forgot to tell you, I also need a tagline to go with the logo.”
5. “Can you make a sample logo design for me first?”
6. “Why do I get the feeling this logo design isn’t original?”
7. “You call this a corporate logo? My child can make a better logo design than you.”
8. “Change of plans, I need the logo designed by tomorrow.”
1. “This logo is so small; I want a redesigned logo that is bigger.”
2. “I think you should abandon the work, I’ll make the logo design myself.”
I am sure every logo designer has encountered at least one of these statements. Now I would like you guys to come forward and enlighten with your replies to these client statements?
