Sustainability at Mount Royal University

At Mount Royal, acting sustainably means the critical activities of this higher education institution are ecologically sound, socially just and environmentally viable. A truly sustainable university emphasizes these concepts in its curriculum and research, preparing students to contribute as working citizens to an environmentally sound and socially just society.

A sustainable university is also committed to reducing its environmental footprint, and one long- term initiative at Mount Royal is a corporate energy management program to reduce energy consumption. Mount Royal’s Campus Master Plan ensures that all new University buildings are designed to achieve LEED certification.  Learn more about the LEED buildings on Mount Royal’s campus.

The Institute for Environmental Sustainability and Facilities Management have renewed our membership with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for 2018-2019.  AASHE provides campus sustainability resources and industry standards for universities world wide.  Click here to learn more!
